Our Studies:
In grade 1 our students have a good time learning a lot of new
things.
In Religion our learners are assisted in learning that God loves
us and that He is our Father and our Creator, Jesus is the son
of God and the Holy Spirit is our helper. We participate in Mass
each week. The eighth graders are our Mass buddies and teach us
how to celebrate.
Learners are assisted in reading/language arts by reading and
spelling basic sight words, identifying and reading vocabulary
words and their meaning, demonstrating the ability to listen to
and follow directions. We alphabetize to the first letter and
use multiple strategies to decode and recognize words and
construct meaning when reading fiction and nonfiction text.
In mathematics we assist our learners in classifying numbers:
greater/less, even/odd. We count to 100 identify and write these
numbers. We make graphs and organize data using tally marks. In
operations we add and subtract up to 10.
Science and social studies are incorporated into our reading
program. Weekly Reader is used for current events.
