Preparation for these Sacraments begins at home, within the family,
and flow out of a natural response to birth and Baptism. As our
children grow in age and wisdom, so they also grow in faith and grace.
Students who need to be baptized or make a Profession of Faith in the
Catholic Church are referred to RCIA/C, Rite of Christian Initiation
of Adults adapted for Children.
Children are prepared for Reconciliation and Eucharist at about the
age of seven. Usually this means that children are in (at least)
second grade.
Older children who have yet to receive these sacraments are welcome to
begin their preparation in this schedule.
Preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation takes place in the fall
with the celebration of the Sacrament in Advent.
Children then begin immediate preparation for their First Communion
after the first of the year. Celebration of this sacrament is
during the Easter season.
